*When Pigues Fly: Nolensville Road’s Hidden Gem**

There are some places you don’t go looking for — they find you. That’s exactly how I ended up at When Pigues Fly, tucked quietly at 6304 Hills Chapel Rd, right off Nolensville Road near the Bark Park. A friend told me about this “little backyard spot” that opens every year with live music, brown‑bag vibes, food, and a whole lot of heart. I’ll be honest — I was skeptical. I’ve owned catering companies, lounges, restaurants, and I’m a chef by trade. I’ve seen a lot of places come and go.
But life has a way of pulling you back toward your gifts. And mine has always been cooking.
They told me they needed someone to run the food truck, and I thought, “Why not? I’ve got some downtime.” I didn’t know then that this place would end up feeling like home.
Walking into When Pigues Fly feels like stepping into someone’s backyard — the kind of backyard where the grill is hot, the music is good, and the people are even better. It’s peaceful, calm, and welcoming in a way you don’t expect until you’re standing there taking it all in. Families come out. Friends gather. Dogs stretch out under the tables. Kids play games. And grown folks finally get a chance to breathe.
Everything is covered, cozy, and set up so you can relax without worrying about the weather. Every table has games, there’s cornhole, and the bands — let me tell you — the bands are something special. It’s the kind of chill vibe Nashville used to be known for, like the old Centennial Park Fridays or the Riverfront nights where you could just sit, listen, and vibe.
Now let’s talk about the food — my part of the magic.
The name When Pigues Fly comes from Steve (yes, the pig’s name is Steve), and even though the name sounds like “pigs,” we barely sell any pork. Funny, right? So I decided to lean into the joke and have fun with the menu. We created playful dish names inspired by the Pigues theme, and somehow we ended up selling more chicken than anything else. It’s a food truck, but I treat it like a kitchen. I cook with love, with joy, and with that spark God gave me — the one I thought I’d lost for a minute. Being here brought it back.
Steve and Ashton — the heart and the hustle behind When Pigues Fly — have built something rare. It’s not a bar. It’s not a club. It’s not a restaurant. It’s a hidden gem, a backyard getaway right in the middle of Nolensville Road. They’ve created a space where you don’t have to dress up, you don’t have to plan, you don’t have to think — you just show up and enjoy yourself. And the best part? This place is only going to grow. Over the next year, it’s set to become even bigger, even better, and even more of what Nashville needs.
If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on great food, great music, and a great vibe every Friday and Saturday night. It’s the kind of spot you tell your friends about. The kind of place you stumble into once and keep coming back to. The kind of vibe Nashville used to have — and still does, right here.
When Pigues Fly isn’t just a location. It’s a feeling. A community. A little piece of magic hidden in plain sight.
Come see what we’re building. Come taste what I’m cooking. Come vibe with us.
You’ll fall in love with it just like I did.
